Introducing Club Development Scotland.

Supporters Direct Scotland are pleased to announce the launch of our new consultancy unit Club Development Scotland (CDS). CDS represents an opportunity for sport clubs and Supporters Groups to access free information and tools to grow their work, realise their social value within their respective communities and build a winning club.

CDS operate a website (clubdevelopment.scot) which offers a range of best practice guidelines around the areas of governance, transferring assets and legal structures.

For community groups (including both sport clubs and Supporters Trusts) seeking to take on ownership of assets or build and develop existing assets, we provide specialist consultancy support at discounted rates and help you find or raise funding for your projects.

Consultants include Bryan Jackson, formerly of BDO, who brokered the unique three-way agreement between Hearts creditors, Ann Budge and the Foundation of Hearts to secure the club’s future and put it on a clear pathway towards supporter ownership.

While we can't guarantee success on the pitch, we can show you a route to succeed off it. So to build a winning club get in touch with us at andrew.jenkin@supporters-direct.org or by calling us on 01698 574 579.

The Social and Community Value of Sport Clubs

Supporters Direct commissioned the social research specialists Substance to conduct a research project about the social and community value of football clubs. The purpose was to understand better how clubs interact with and provide value to their communities.

The wider social value of football clubs beyond their community departments has often been discussed but there had been little evidence to back it up. The research was intended to enable clubs to provide evidence by the adoption of a tailored methodology to back this position up.

As well as making the case for the social value of football, the research has allowed us to offer a service (Club Development) to measure the social value of your club, shifting the emphasis away from just reporting financially, so that Clubs can continue to grow in their communities. You can read the findings here.
