a message from Bishop Michael Oulton of the Diocese of Ontario
Dear Friends,

Many of you will have now heard through social media and the internet the news from General Synod that due to a technical error with the electronic voting system, the outcome of resolution A051-R2—the resolution to amend the marriage canon has now been carried.

You may refer to a statement made today by the General Secretary, Michael Thompson:

It is still my intention to consult with diocesan leadership upon my return from Kenya in advance of convening a diocesan day for members of our diocese to share their hopes and suggestions on how we move forward as a diocese in response to the changes to the marriage canon amendment.

Please hold our Synod members and all faithful Anglicans in prayer as we continue to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in healing and reconciliation.

Yours in the Light and Hope of Christ

Bishop Michael
