Letter from the President

Dear Chapter Members,

Spring is here and the New York City Chapter of IFMA is in full swing. March was very productive with several great events for our new members, facility managers and associate members.

The first facility manager idea exchange event of the year was extremely successful and set the mark for future events of its kind. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Young & Rubicam Group for hosting this event at their new space. The new member luncheon was well attended and offered great insight into utilizing Chapter resources and getting the most out of your membership.

April will offer new workshops for our members as well as our IFMA Cares St. Jude Fundraiser with some guest bartenders from the Chapter Leadership. As always, I encourage you to check our website or the App for a full schedule of upcoming events.

With Earth Day around the corner, April is setting the foundation for the sustainability initiatives being developed by the Chapter. Our sustainability committee is hard at work on their Greener Greater Buildings webinar series and their e-recycling program in May.

As always, I would like to take the time to thank all of our members for their unwavering enthusiasm in striving to maintain the IFMA New York City Chapter as the premier organization for Facility Managers and Professionals in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Gary Anzalone

Sustainability Committee

The IFMA NYC Sustainability Committee is hard at work on a list of valuable programs, roundtables and collaborative events for our members to increase awareness and understanding of the sustainable climate today.

The upcoming event on Thursday, May 22 is a continuation of the committee's commitment to bringing awareness to our members regarding sustainability regulation issues they may face. The event will delve into the world of E-Recycling and the 2015 mandate of disposing of all electronic waste separate from the normal disposal stream. Panelists will be from the E-Recycling industry, municipal government and the consulting fields to educate and illuminate this upcoming regulatory change.

The committee also is involved in a collaborative event in late June revolving around Energy Efficiency Best Practices. A panel of corporate and institutional energy users will discuss their experiences with technologies and regulatory environments affecting their facilities today.

They have also been diligently recruiting new members to the committee and have introduced a series of quarterly roundtables for the committee members led by committee members that will enhance the value and time spent within the organization.

Lastly the upcoming series of webinars focusing on Local Law 87 and NYC's Greater Greener Building laws covering energy performance, retro-commissioning, audits and upgrades, sub-metering of commercial tenants and lighting retro-fits is well underway and scheduled to roll out in late fall 2015. We encourage all who would like to participate to the committee and make this a truly rewarding experience for all members of the IFMA NYC community.
- Arthur Desin and Murray Levi, Co-Chairs of the IFMA NYC Sustainability Committee
