LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members:

Spring is around the corner in New York City and our Chapter is off to a great start with several exciting programs scheduled over the next few months. I encourage you to check our website and mobile app for a full schedule of upcoming opportunities.

February was a busy month for the Chapter with a full schedule of events. On February 2, 2015 the member services committee hosted potential members of IFMA NYC for a behind the scenes tour of SiriusXM lead by Director of Facilities and Office Services, Stuart Goldberg. On February 19, 2015 our emerging leaders hosted a Facility Management themed trivia night and on February 26, 2015 our Chapter celebrated its newest members at a Cocktail Party at Ted Moudis Associates.

Our board members and committee chairs gathered for their annual chapter retreat on February 28, 2015 which generated many new ideas and initiatives to grow the organization. We look forward to implementing the initiatives over the course of the coming year.

I would like to again express my sincere gratitude for the ongoing efforts of our dedicated and talented members in maintaining IFMA New York City Chapter’s reputation as the premier organization for Facility Managers and Professionals in the New York Metropolitan Area.

Mentorship Program:

IFMA New York City is seeking mentors to work with Facility Management students! For more information and to sign up visit our website.

Communications Committee:

Coming soon – Stuart’s Corner! This will be our monthly column with Stuart Goldberg of SiriusXM answering all your pressing facilities management questions!

Sustainability Committee:

The CUNY School of Professional Studies is now offering a free Building Operating Certification Training for IFMA New York City Members. These 8-week courses are offered during the day once per week (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and also in the evening twice per week (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM). The IFMA New York City Sustainability Committee is participating in the Mayor’s 80x50 initiative and has asked our facility manager members to participate in an 8-question survey to be represent your interests in the initiative. You can find this survey here: surveymonkey.com/s/IFMANYC

Make 2015 the Year You Earn the CFM Credential:

The IFMA New York City Chapter will be hosting a CFM Information session on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 6:00 PM at Arenson Office Furnishings (1115 Broadway, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10010). Mary Speed-Perri, MBA, CFM and IFMA Certified Instructor will present the requirements and application process to apply for the exam. For more information on the CFM exam process, please contact info@ifmanyc.org.
