June 2017
Hello, Welcome to our July e-news.

AVCLP Graduation

The latest crop of community leaders, drawn from the North East and Border regions, graduated in style at the Quality Hotel Wangaratta on the 25th May.

Twenty-one new regional leaders were presented to an audience, of two-hundred industry and government leaders, supporters and alumni, by Chair, Clare Kiely, and AVCLP Patron John G Brown AO.

Keynote speaker, Nigel Collin, a leading entrepreneur and author of best-selling business development book, The Game of Inches, provided our audience with a thought-provoking keynote address about the leadership qualities that are needed to develop successful organisations and businesses. A further highlight was the presentation of an Honorary Graduate Award to Barry Sullivan for his contribution to regional economic development.

2017-18 Annual Program

Interviews are currently being held for candidates of our annual program, which has been over-subscribed again, this year. We look forward to announcing the successful applicants, in July.

This year’s program will start with an opening retreat at Albury’s Lake Hume Resort on the 21st of July.

Database Update

Our alumni are a very dynamic group and it’s easy to lose track of member’s contact details.  We want to be able to stay in touch with everyone and to share opportunities. So, over the next couple of months, we will be contacting all of our alumni and asking permission for their contact details to remain on our database, as well as updating those details.

AVCLP respects the privacy of its alumni and supporters and complies with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988.  Our Privacy Policy can be read here.

Alumni Engagement Committee

The AVCLP's alumni are being reinvigorated thanks to a passionate new committee with a focus on reconnecting past participants. In addition to updating our main database, we'll be using our LinkedIn Group to reconnect. Once you have joined LinkedIn, go to our Group and apply to join.

The new committee has some great ideas and events planned, so stay tuned for upcoming announcements, via this Group. To get the ball rolling, it would be great if you could make a post to the group introducing yourself, the year you completed the program and if there is anything you would like to see come out of the alumni group. You never know who you may already know. New to LinkedIn - click here for assistance. Please note that you can adjust your notification settings for this Group to be alerted each time a new Post is made.
Short courses

Community Landcare & Agriculture Leadership Program

Participants of this year’s Community Landcare and Agriculture Leadership Program graduated from the course with a final program-day and a dinner for participants and sponsors, at The Hub at Winton Wetlands.  This seven-day program was delivered to twenty-four participants from across the Goulburn Murray region, in partnership with North East Catchment Management Authority, Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, and Goulburn Murray Community Leadership.  The highlight of the program was an overnight visit to the Goulburn Valley to observe innovative Agriculture and Community Development practices.

Melton City Council Community Leadership Program

Earlier this year AVCLP was approached by Melton City Council to design and deliver a new Community Leadership Program for residents, of which we facilitated four or its six training days. The program has been a huge success, judging by the feedback from its thirty participants. We look forward to working with Melton City Council on future programs.
