Welcome to our new Directors

Following its recent AGM, AVCLP is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Directors to its nine-member Board of Management.

We welcome aboard AVCLP graduate Rosie Koop. Rosie and her husband manage a sheep farming enterprise near Glenrowan. Rosie moved to the region from Sydney where she had a distinguished corporate career in publishing and marketing.

Beechworth resident and consultant Sue Gold has joined AVCLP, lending finance and business expertise to the board. She is also a director of the Small Business Mentoring Service.

We look forward to Mount Beauty resident Linda Griffiths-Brown's contribution. Linda is the Managing Director of Total HRM, a Wodonga-based human resources consultancy. Linda has worked for over twenty years in business and consulting, holding executive and senior management roles in a number of industries including mining, energy, government and transportation.

The Board and staff are grateful for the contribution of retiring Board members Lisa Mangelsdorf, Emma Avery and Jemma Galvin for their significant contributions to the development of AVCLP in recent years. We wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

Are you our next representative on the AgBiz Assist board?

AgBiz Assist helps family-owned small business and agricultural enterprises achieve financial security and assists people and communities manage change and plan for the future.  They do this through partnerships and collaboration with Government agencies, business, philanthropists and community organisations.

AVCLP is one of two members of this not-for-profit, formerly known as Goulburn Murray Hume AgCare.  As a member of AgBiz Assist, AVCLP is entitled to have two representatives on its Board of Management.  These directors are paid a small sitting fee for attendance at meetings.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest from alumni to serve on this board. Contact Kim for an Expression of Interest form; this needs to be completed and returned to AVCLP by COB Monday, 21st November.

The Victorian Government’s Regional Partnerships were established to help give regional Victorians a greater say about issues affecting their communities.

This Regional Partnership will host an Assembly in Benalla on 30 November from 5:30pm - 8:30pm and we’d love to see you there. It will bring together a diverse range of people from across the Ovens Murray area. This is an opportunity to share your views and talk directly to the Victorian Government and we hope you will take part in setting the future direction of our region.

Register your interest in attending the Assembly by Sunday 20 November online or by calling 03 5722 7103.

We are pleased to be offering another of these highly acclaimed seven-day leadership programs tailored for those in the natural resource management and agriculture sectors.

The seven-day program will be delivered over one day per fortnight between late February and early June 2017 at locations across the region. Applications close 17th January. Contact Kim for application forms. More here.

Our partners for this program include North East Catchment Management Authority, Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority and Goulburn Murray Community Leadership.
Community and not-for–profit organisations can now apply for funding to support the valuable work of volunteers. Volunteer Grants 2016 offer between $1,000 and $5,000 to assist with the purchase of much-needed equipment such as computers, or help with training volunteers, fuel costs or undertaking background security checks.

These grants are part of the Australian Government's work to support volunteers who help disadvantaged Australian communities and encourage the inclusion of vulnerable people in community life.

Applications close 2pm on 20 December 2016.  More here
