Celebrating February
Reasons to raise a glass of Brentwood Beer are many and varied this month.  Here are a few opportunities or suggestions, should you need any further encouragement than simply enjoying a good pint of locally brewed, quality, craft ale at home or in your local.
The excitement starts on Saturday 6th with the first Brewery Open Day of the year.  Also Six Nations Rugby kicks-off Saturday, France v Italy and Scotland v England.
Sunday there's more Rugby - Ireland v Wales.  Sunday 7th is also British Yorkshire Pudding Day followed closely by Shrove Tuesday on the 9th.  If you fancy jazzing things up, both batters can be made with beer in place of water or milk.  On Sunday, try some Brentwood Gold 4.3%ABV with your Yorkshire Puds, as it pairs magnificently with roast dinners, according to Britain's Beer Alliance.
Monday 8th is Chinese New Year.
It's the year of the Monkey.  Or is it?
Monkeys may have wit, intelligence and magnetic personalities but apparently only a little luck in 2016, so predictions say.  If you're celebrating with a Chinese meal, maybe you could let us know your favourite Brentwood Beer to enjoy with it, as we're still scratching our heads about which of our beers goes best.  We'd be pleased to hear from you via email, on Twitter or Facebook or the old-fashioned and possibly best way, face to face.
Back to the Rugby, Round Two, Saturday 13th France v Ireland and Wales v Scotland.  Sunday it's Italy v England.
Valentine's Day on Sunday 14th.   If you're stuck for gift ideas and your other half is a fan of our beer, the Brewery Shop has lots of gift ideas costing from only £3.  If you're enjoying a meal for two, what could possibly top a bottle of our luxury, Champagned beer, Van Kannor 7.7% ABV?
Saturday 20th we have an extra Brewery Open Day with tours at 11am and 1pm costing £10 including a pint and a free gift.
More Rugby.  Round Three:  Friday 26th Wales v France.  Saturday 27th it's Italy V Scotland and England v Ireland.
Last but not least on 29th it's Leap Year Day.  An extra, bonus day of the year.  Surely that's deserving of a toast?  Or maybe you'll be celebrating following a proposal perhaps?  If you're a single gentleman and no proposal is forthcoming on Leap Year Day, some could argue that's excuse enough to enjoy a jolly decent pint or two.
Ukuleles and Beer?
What do ukuleles have to do with Brentwood Beer?  All will become clear on July 23rd at Barleylands Farm in Billericay when the first ukulele festival in Essex takes place.  We'll be there too, serving your favourite beer.

Pub of the Month
The Hutton Junction, Shenfield

With St Valentine's and Leap Year Days approaching, thoughts will be turning to romance and love throughout the month.
Publicans of The Hutton Junction, Len and Lyn Mitchell, celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary last year.  So we feel the brewery's Pub of the Month is a particularly fitting choice for February.  Albeit rather belatedly, we also send Len and Lyn our anniversary congratulations.

Landlady Lyn said:  "The Hutton Junction is what a traditional pub used to be.  All our food - from pies, puddings, desserts and to burgers, soups and sauces are all made in the pub.  We have five real ales on which we change routinely."

At least one Brentwood Beer features in the real ale line up on the bar.
"Our head chef of six years, David White, is constantly creating and updating our seasonal menu to keep it fresh and interesting," added Lyn.
To read the full Pub of the Month review on The Hutton Junction, please visit the Brewery Blog.
To try The Hutton Junction's Sausage Cobbler with Lumberjack recipe at home, please see the recipe on the Brewery Blog.
Beer and food match suggestion - from the Specials Board, when available try:  Lumberjack 5.2% ABV with The Hutton Junction's specially created  Sausage Cobber with Lumberjack (by Head Chef David White)
Tasting notes:  Award-winning, strong, slightly sweet, full-bodied bitter.  Brewed with traditional English Fuggles and EKG hops, giving a round, hoppy finish.

And finally ... February Beers of the Month

Ale-Klahoma! 4.5% ABV
Created to promote Shenfield Operatic Society's production of Oklahoma! at The Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch (10 -13th February).  Supporting Hornchurch-based charity First Step, for every bottle or pint of Ale-Klahoma!  4.5% ABV sold, a donation of 10 pence will be made to First Step.  The charity  helps families throughout Essex.

Tasting Notes:
Full-bodied beer with light hop and malt flavours attuned in total harmony.  You can’t say no on a Beautiful Morning or any other time of day – it’s the All Er Nothin’ pint for the farmer and the cowman.
Blind Date 4.1% ABV

Tasting Notes:  Fruity golden ale with hints of toffee from the dates
