As you may or may not have noticed, summer is over.
And that’s not us just being negative. We have proof:
- The Met Office have confirmed the autumnal equinox took place at the end of September, meaning the sun’s sub-solar point has now crossed the equator southwards. And so, astronomical autumn has begun.
- It is quite cold today.
But fortunately, not all is lost.
Following on from their stonking summer pop-up Summer Tales, the Night Tales collective are back with a colder-weather-appropriate series; Tokyo Nights.
Hosted from their 25,000sq ft Shoreditch plot, this boozy night market is inspired by the restaurants, cocktail bars and shady back streets of Japan’s capital city. Alongside a tasty selection of street food vendors and creative cocktail connoisseurs, the market this year will feature four new concept bars, eight private ‘Ryokans’ (Japanese houses) available for private hire, and six new foodie partners serving experimental-cum-authentic Asian eats.
Background Bars will be taking care of the drinks with a selection of specially created cocktails, and they’ll be joined by pop-up foodie regulars Patty & Bun, Bubbledogs, Nanny Bill’s, Dorshi, and new kids on the block, Walter & Monty.
In true Night Tales tradition, guests can expect a cosy, heated, alfresco set up with a live music and DJ-led entertainment roster. The acts haven’t been confirmed as of yet, but the last few years have seen the likes of Rudimental, Gorgon City and Friendly Fires wow the crowds.
So think big.
Tokyo Nights opens on Thursday 29th October, then runs every Thurs-Fri until Saturday 19th December at Red Market, Shoreditch. Queue jump and guaranteed-entry tickets are available below.
