The beloved wine-maker, Sean Thackrey, certainly needs no introduction from us, the family at Thackrey & Company Fine Wines. His wines have spoken. A reputation proceeds him. He is known for an unconventional approach to the ancient art of wine-making. Not without a tone of affection, he has been called obsessive, medieval, and idiosyncratic, as well as, accused of being a maverick. His iconoclastic attitude shines; so do his wines. Hence, as stated, the wines speak for themselves.
Whether you appreciate, collect or adore Thackrey's Rhone-style wines, we encourage you to take the plunge into something cooler.
L Y R A
Ripeness was all for traditional Viognier; it was a sweet wine, which this is not, but we have done everything in our power to express in our Lyra the same extraordinary voluptuousness of aromas, complex palate of tropical fruits and flowers, and richness of texture that its ancestors must have flaunted. It is not a wine for puritans, oenological of otherwise, and bears little resemblance to most other white wines. Those whom it seduces will revel in the experience.
L A P L E I A D E The golden sisters of the Pleiades, who share with their siblings the same ambition, which is above all to be delicious. As with all our white wines, we avoid the clumsiness and blurring of distinctions so often the result of new oak, and work instead toward a light, fresh, sweet complexity of both aromatics and flavors, roundness, refreshingly clean acidity and a long, complex finish.
F I F I Admittedly, a rosé named "Fifi" may sound as though it's the airhead of artisan wines, but producing it didn't just happen by accident, like, "OMG it came out all pink!", or whatever; no.
In fact, it's an absolutely delicious rosé of Sangiovese–lighthearted to be sure, but produced with all the serious care and attention to voluptuous detail for which our wines are legendary.
