Thank you to all who joined us in March for our inaugural Bolinas Barn Tasting event (We've shared a few photos below). Due to the popularity of that gathering, we've decided to open the Bolinas cellar door a couple more times this summer - June 4th (reservations available now) and September 24th (save the date). As well as flights of our current releases, we'll offer barrel tastes and previews of Thackrey vintages to come.
In addition to the Bolinas dates, we've got a big day scheduled for August 4th (Save the date), Noon-4pm at our Forestville winery in Sonoma County. We'll have BBQ, live music and some of our wine-making team on hand to pour and show you around.
At the Bolinas Barn, each $20 five-taste flight includes a modest accompaniment of local nibbles. In Forestville, lunch will be priced separately. At all events, you'll have the opportunity to bring home bottles, and mixed cases of your choice, including an offering of library wines Shari and Sean will select for the occasion.
As a member of our Thackrey & Company WineList, you are receiving this notice in advance of the general public. As our tasting schedule filled-up quickly last round, we recommend that you book your reservations for June 4th now if you're interested in joining us. We'll post notices when we're able to begin taking reservations for future dates. Pleaseemail Adrienne if you have any questions.
Our much awaited 2013 Andromeda, Devil's Gulch Pinot Noir, is now in bottle. As always, our 2012 vintage sold out, so we are offering our WineList Members the opportunity to order before it is officially released next week.
$120/ bottle 1.5 $720./case either size; less, of course, your customary WineList case discount
It is remarkably more complex and deeply flavored than most of its California brethren, not least because several vineyard characteristics tilt it that way. Devil’s Gulch is directly in the path of cool air sweeping in from the Pacific across Tomales Bay, but it is above the fog line; thus there’s no lack of sunlight, hence excellent ripening, but little heat, hence no baked berries; and the wind interferes with pollination, guaranteeing a remarkably small yield, often less than one ton per acre. I have, as always, done everything to bring all this together into a uniquely expressive wine; perhaps it’s not for those who want Pinot Noir to be light & with a few simple fruit and floral flavors, but it’s certainly for those who want something wilder and more mysterious than that, as are so many of the greatest Burgundies, after all. - Sean Thackrey

Please note the crucial difference in storage practices between any rare, early vintages offered directly by us, and on the other hand, any related offerings from any other source. Every bottle that we offer has been stored under perfect conditions since it first came off the bottling line.
