The wines have been decided upon of our French Wine Class on Tuesday October 1st! We have decided to look into lesser known regions in France or more obscure wines from regions you may know. It's all about exposing you to new vino and learning! Join us in the backroom at Brewbakers, it's $20.00 ($15.00 for Platinum Wine Club members). Brewbakers will provide 3 small plates paired with the wines & Lucinda Smith of Robins Cellars & Charlie will talk you through them! If you want to purchase any, they will be available at a discount for pick up later in the week! Cut off for joining us is Thursday 9/27 by close of business. The village of Seyssel, in the French Alps, has a history of viticulture dating back centuries, having built a reputation for floral-scented wines from the local grapes, Molette and Altesse. Produced in the méthode traditionnelle and aged for two years sur lies, the Petit Royal is unique & distinctive in the world of sparkling wine. You'll get alpine flowers, dried fruit, wildflower honey, and a toasty, yeasty note give it an lovely aromatic richness and complexity. It's $24.99

Made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne. The wine making process is exclusively “sur lie” in stainless steel vats. The aging on the lees and the technique of “batonnage” brings more complexity and fruit to the  wine. It's floral and fruity, with flinty notes.  Layers of citrus on the palate, crisp acidity. Chateau de la Cantrie dates back to the early 1700’s. The domaine’s vines are planted on terraces facing the Sèvre River in the village of Saint Fiacre and the soil is mainly composed of schist. It's $14.99

You know red Rhone wines, but have you ever paid attention to white ones? This one is delightful blend of Grenache blanc (50%), Viognier (20%) and Roussanne and Marsanne. A refreshing and versatile white With a complex nose of citrus and fruit aroma's the palate is long & well balanced. It'd $15.99
 
Just outside of the village of Benais, in the heart of the Touraine, sits Domaine de la Chanteleuserie. The name means “place where the larks sing”. The seventh generation of winegrowers at Chanteleuserie produce wines in land of Cabernet Franc, better known locally as “Breton" locally. The “Cuvée Alouettes,” alluding to the name of the domaine, is fresh, supple, fruity, and ready to drink. It's $19.99

The first vineyards at Domaine de Fontsainte, in the Corbières appellation, were planted by the Romans. Artifacts found in these vineyards like an old coin dating from the time of Marcus Agrippa in 25 A.D., are a testament to its antiquity. Hand harvested Grenache and Syrah are de-stemmed by hand; Carignan goes through carbonic maceration, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats for 14 days. The Wine rests for 6 months before being racked into barrel & aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. It's  $18.99

Clos La Coutale is made of Malbec and Merlot.The vinification is done in thermoregulated vats, the regular punching allows a good extraction of the aromas and the fruit.The Clos La Coutale is then aged in barrels for one year to obtain a good balance between tannins and fruit. Taste Malbec from it's original home of France! It's $20.59

Next up! Our Anniversary Wine Tasting! It will be on Sunday November 3rd from 1p-4p and we are calling Daylights Savings Wine! Set your clocks back. I know our Anniversary isn't until December, but quite frankly, you won't have the time in Dec., so we are celebrating a month early. Once again, we will do 25+ wines between the back room of Brewbakers & our shop and we'll have light fare. Tickets will be $25.00 & a portion of the proceeds will go to a yet to be determined charity. Wine club members will get in for $20.00 MARK YOUR CALENDAR! I'll let you know when tickets go on sale!.
This beast is our next selection for the Murphy Beverage Co. & the Winchester Book Gallery Wine & Book Club! Our Wine & Book Club only meets 4 times a year and our next meeting is on Oct. 9th. We meet at the Book Gallery at 6pm and the ticket cost is $10.00. Murphys pairs the wines with the books, gives you a brief description and they are available for purchase at a discounted price. Then it's on to discussing the book! We have a Facebook page if you'd like to keep up with what we are doing and there's only 1 rule to Book Club, you gotta buy the book at the Book Gallery (unless you already have it!)
