It sure feels like November! Beaujolais Thursday is on the 16th, Black Friday is next followed by Shop Small Saturday,
Our 20th anniversary is NEXT MONTH and to commemorate it, we are starting the Platinum Wine Club & the  sincerest of apologies for the train wreck of typos and misspellings in my recent emails. YEESH!
We will be forcing you out of your comfort zone on First Friday in November, show casing some of the more unusual grapes and regions. Here's your wines for Nov. 3rd 6p-9p:
Affinitas Furmint Tokaj Hungary 2015
On the nose a bouquet of peach and floral scents rise from the glass. On the palate it is elegant with good acidity and spice. It is crisp and fresh and shows good structure. Flavors of summer fruits with pear, citrus and spice on the finish. This wine will make your Thanksgiving. It's $16.59
This wine has been my secret weapon for years. Whenever I get "my friend is a wine snob" or "I need to impress my wine drinking friend", I whip this out. Artesana is a small production, single vineyard estate winery in the Canelones region of Uruguay and it's all female run. It's full bodied and redolent with rich cassis, blackberry fruit with layers of licorice, clove, cedar, and allspice ending in a long and well rounded finish. Pairs beautifully with pasta and meat dishes including beef, lamb, & pork. It's $16.59
Meinklang Frizzante Rose $17.59
This pink sparkly beauty has been an all time fav for years! It was originally made by the winemaker for his wedding, but it was so delicious, they now make it for YOU. It's a Pinot Noir, the property is organic & biodynamic and they love their cows, also their source of fertilizer. Pinot Noir grapes give this wine a refreshing, light character. Sparkling and dry, this rose is sourced from the Austrian-Hungarian border. Their herd of Angus cows populate the landscape, aiding in fertilization.
These folks care about the planet.
You need to treat yourself and try this wine. Evolucio Late Harvest is a great intro to the sweet wines of Hungary, where arguably some of the greatest dessert wines in the world come from. Smooth, flavorful, medium-full body, and just the right level of sweetness, not at all syrupy or cloying. You'll get apricot, kiwi, and honey. It's lush and clean. it comes in a 375ml bottle and is $16.59

We recently started a new feature with "Customer Guest Reviews" . This time it's from Tammy Bjelland. I had the good fortune of studying with Tammy as she went for her Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level II. AND SHE PASSED! She is reviewing the Riebeek Cellars Cape Rose. And you'll see that Tammy has a style all her own. She was made to review wine. She nailed it.
Riebeek Cellars Cape Rosé $7.99
What it is: South African Pinotage rosé
What is tastes like: You know those hot fall days when you and the weather just refuse to accept that it’s not summer anymore? This wine tastes like that — like getting lucky at the local market and finding the last juicy, fleshy strawberry you’ll taste until next summer. Try it with brunch or just sitting out on your porch as you soak up what might be the last hot day of the year.
