Together with some member organisations, partners and allies, Secretariat staff took part in the World Social Forum (9-14 August)
. This was a particular year for CIDSE, as the gathering was in Canada, where our member, Development and Peace is based. Together with them and partners and allies, CIDSE held several events. The diaries offer a snapshot of activities attended by the CIDSE team.

Laudato Si': a Call for Change
This event, co-organised by Development & Peace, CIDSE and Franciscans International, demonstrated the power of the World Social Forum as a space to bring together the wisdom, learning and teachings of different struggles. Speakers included: Fr. John Patrick Ngoyi/Nigeria, Jennifer Henry/ Canada, Fr. Ismael Moreno/ Honduras, Moema de Miranda/ Brazil and Shalmali Guttal/ Philippines.

Climate change: continuing people mobilisation and promoting sustainable ways of living
Youth mobilisation for climate
At this event co-organised by CIDSE and Development and Peace, young people from Canada, Cambodia, France and Honduras shared their experiences and challenges to mobilise for climate justice. At the core of their messages was the urgency to act both at individual and political level, the acknowledgement that poor people are the most affected by climate change and the need to stop overconsumption.
