Golf Social! A Whole New Way to Play Golf!

Thank you 'Drive to Deliver' Golfers, Sponsors and Volunteers!

We would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the golfers, sponsors and volunteers who came out to support the 10th Annual 'Drive to Deliver' Golf Tournament on May 13th, 2014. We anticipated golfers going home soggy from a day in the rain, but instead they went home with a suntan. The weather was spectacular and we had a great day on the course.

Our generous golfers and sponsors helped us raise over $36,000 for CSC's Meal Subsidy Program which ensures everyone has access to a hot, nutritious meal regardless of income. This is enough to subsidize 9,700 meals for seniors and adults with disabilities in our community.

A special thanks to Dinner Sponsor Cook Homes, Cart Sponsor Matbridge Investments, and Gift Sponsors Christie Digital, Safegard Medical Canada Inc.King Crab Oyster Bar & Grill, and King Street Trio Uptown.

It is encouraging to know so many of our community partners share our vision of a community where everyone feels at home - valued, connected, and empowered. Thank you for your support!

June is Seniors' Month

Did you know?  Last year, 610 caring volunteers contributed 89,802 hours of their time - that's the equivalent of 49 full time positions - to help us serve 5,270 seniors and adults with disabilities. Now that's something to celebrate.

June 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of Seniors' Month. The theme is Aging Without Boundaries: 30 Years of Celebrating Seniors.

We will also be celebrating our local seniors by showing our support for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15th, 2014. We encourage everyone to wear something purple on this day to help raise awareness of this important issue.

The Value of Delivering a Meal and a Smile

Ever wonder about the significance of Meals on Wheels?

Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal. Meals on Wheels (MOW) helps those who are unable to shop for their own food or to cook maintain their independence at home by delivering nutritious, delicious and affordable meals. MOW also provides clients with a caring connection to the community.

What are the benefits of Meals on Wheels?

Access to well-balanced, affordable meals is imperative to the independence and sustenance of Meals on Wheels' (MOWs') clients. Research shows that healthy eating provides essential energy and nutrients for general welfare, maintenance of health and functional autonomy, and reduces the risk for chronic diseases at older ages.

The benefits of MOW are emotional and psychological, as well as physical: MOW’s connection to companionship and resources in the community, help with dietary planning and maintaining independence, as well as access to ethnic meals and security checks, make MOW a service that supports the overall well-being of its clients.

This information and more is on the Meals on Wheels of Ontario website at www.mealsonwheels.ca

Meals on Wheels is CSC's largest and most recognizable program. If you or someone you know might be interested in becoming a Meals on Wheels volunteer, please contact us at 519-772-8787 and ask for the Volunteer Team.

Capital Campaign Thermometer On the Rise

The outpouring of support towards building our very own Meals on Wheels Kitchen has been incredible so far. As the thermometer demonstrates, we are getting closer to our $600,000 goal and we could not be more excited!

With your support we will be able to provide our clients with nutritious meals made from scratch and accept charitable food donations to keep costs down for some of our most vulnerable neighbours. We will also be able to bring volunteers into the kitchen to help with meal preparation. If you want to see how you can get involved, call our office at 519-772-8787 and ask for the Volunteer Team.

If you would like to make a donation to help reach our goal, it's as easy as clicking the link below.

Golf Social!  A Whole New Way to Play Golf!

This year marks the rebranding of The Golf Social, formerly known as Twitterment, the most colourful golf experience in Waterloo Region!

Being a part of this event means being a part of something unique. The Golf Social breaks the mould of the traditional, static golf tournament participation between sponsors, participants and receptions. Golf Social creates powerful conversations and lasting memories through social activities, challenges and the sharing of unique business and personal stories using social media. And all of this benefits CSC!

Join this energetic crowd on Tuesday August 12th at Rockway Golf Course by registering your foursome or as an individual here: http://golfsocialwr.com/
