THE GEEK BEAT JULY 2020

Christmas In July Came Waaaaay Early

Here in Colorful Colorado, we’re in the midst of a multi-week heatwave (which, contrary to our nickname, is turning most things a nice shade of toast).

Yet even with longer-than-average stretches of sweltering heat (where’s that pool noodle?), we can’t help but think about Rudolph and Frosty.

Yep, you read that right. And it’s not just us.

According to search results, including a recent report put out by Pinterest, “people are looking forward to looking forward.” And Pinterest should know because they saw a 77% increase in searches for holiday-ness … in April.

What does this premature holiday spirit mean for you? If you use your website to sell all kinds of goodies and experiences, the holiday traffic you expect to head your way in the fall may come early this year. And you’ll want to make sure your site is up to snuff.

Is your website ready to spread some (early) holiday cheer? If you'd like some help, give us a jingle.

☀️ The Geeks’ Summer Movie List, Part 2 🍿

Welcome to the dog days of summer, when temps linger in the high 90s and you wonder if you’ll ever again feel the sweet relief of a cool breeze across your face.

Well, grab yourself a cold one, crank up that box fan and get ready to soak in the coolness that is Part 2 of the Geeks’ Summer Movie List. Did you miss Part 1? No worries. We've got your movie needs covered right here.

💙 Storytelling matters, especially stories that help us toward greater understanding and prompt us toward action. We recommend adding Netflix’s Black Lives Matter collection to your watch list, which includes shows, movies and documentaries by Black creators.

Butterfly emerging from chrysalis
Butterfly High
Isaiah + fam have been butterfly-sitting two chrysalises for a neighbor.

Just recently, they got to witness their magical transformations from caterpillars to butterflies (which looked a lot like this video).
Wall of the Int'l Banana Museum
It's a Museum! For Bananas!
We’re just as excited as Randall, our mascot monkey, to learn there’s a museum that caters to our favorite fruit.

With over 25,000 banana-related items and pictures, The International Banana Museum has been added to our field trip list.

Project Highlight

MDF-Doors.com - Sun Mountain recently introduced their newest sister site, MDF-Doors.com.

This site features their latest product line of doors made of MDF-wood (medium-fiberboard density), which is an economical alternative for interior doors.

Sun Mountain reached out to the Geeks to build their sister site because we partnered with them on their flagship site as well as their other sister site, Alder-Doors.com, and they wanted to use a similar framework.
