THE GEEK BEAT SEPTEMBER 2020

WordPress Accessibility Day Is Oct 2!

WordPress Accessibility Day logo
A key principle of accessibility is to design flexible experiences so that as many people as possible can use and enjoy those experiences.

For our part, we are immensely dedicated to creating accessible websites.

That's why we’re clearing our schedules on Oct 2 to celebrate WordPress Accessibility Day, a 24-hour global event dedicated to addressing website accessibility in WordPress. (CodeGeek is also an official sponsor!)

All presentations are free, and we can’t help but squee with delight as we look at the stellar lineup:
  • The future of WordPress accessibility
  • Current and upcoming accessibility standards
  • Writing and managing accessible content
  • and so much more!
Once all is said and done, each presentation will be available (with closed captions) so that all this great knowledge is as accessible as possible to everyone.

So join the Geeks on Oct 2 as we drink in all the goodness that WordPress Accessibility Day has to offer. (Did we mention it’s free? Yeah, we totally did.)

Black Friday & Cyber Monday: Are YOU ready?

❄️ The temps in Colorado have finally dipped below 90℉. (So low, in fact, that we've already had our first snow of the season!)

☕️ PSLs have reared their frothy heads earlier than ever before. (Dunkin’ even beat Starbucks by about a week.)

🛍 Facebook has already put out their holiday marketing guide.

What does this all mean? It means the holidays are nigh. It also means lots and lots of online shopping.

Are you planning on running any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on your website? If so, and it's a website that CodeGeek manages, let's get you on our project schedule pronto!

So put on your thinking cap (or a Santa hat, we won't judge) and consider what your site needs for two of the biggest shopping days of the year.

And if you need some website holiday help, break out the tinsel and contact the Geeks by Sep 30.

Project Highlight

EnXL homepage
EnXL - EnXL is an engineering & procurement company focusing on project management, and over the years they've seen their company grow in both size and focus.

They called on the Geeks to build them a new website that accurately represents their business, and we geeked out a lot over this custom project.

One of our favorite features is a custom-built image comparison tool that showcases the company's high-tech approach to major construction projects across the energy industry.

Ron & his Bonanza in 2002
CodeGeek turned 18 this year, and we're feeling a bit nostalgic.

But since many of us weren’t around for those early days, we’ve been on a secret hunt for pics from yesteryear.

Check out this gem we uncovered of Ron posing with one of the Bonanzas he's flown, taken during CodeGeek’s first year in 2002.

Where In The World Are The Geeks?

We dug up this pic of Katy getting the business end of a kickball. Katy got the last laugh, though, because she totally caught this one.

As a birthday present to himself, Jamie taught his pup Cuya how to swim. You could say she took to it like a duck (or dog) to water.

Leah took a drive up Poudre Canyon at sundown … and it was perfect.
