Boo! Who's At Your Backdoor?

Article by Sucuri: How to Audit & Cleanup WordPress Plugins & Themes
One of the best things you can do to keep your website safe and sound is to minimize vulnerability.

As with any stronghold, there’s still a backdoor, and those can be exploited. Fortunately, making sure your backdoor is secure can be an offensive—not a defensive—approach.

Some of those website vulnerabilities (a.k.a. backdoors) include:
  • old versions of WordPress
  • outdated themes and plugins
  • unvetted third-party anything
At CodeGeek, we offer maintenance plans for our clients, and we make sure their sites are in tip-top condition every month. But taking the offensive isn’t just for seasoned developers.

There are plenty of great things anyone can do to ward off hackers, and this article by Sucuri explains them in detail. Give it a read, and if you have any questions, the Geeks are here to help.
Shut the backdoor!

Welcome, Leah!

Meet our newest Geek Leah!Leah joins the Geeks from the deserts of Arizona, and we couldn’t be more tickled pink that she’s here.

This Ron Weasley-loving, full-stack developer loves to build things, and, boy, have we got things for her to build. We’ve already learned that if her chair is empty, we should check the nearest tent or bike path. Welcome, Leah!

🦃 It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like The Holidays 🎄

It’s that time of year again when we start to pull out our winter coats and calendars for some good ol’ holiday fun.

To help everyone unplug and truly enjoy time with loved ones, we are closing the CodeGeek office for the holiday season during the following times:
  1. Nov 28 (Thanksgiving Day, one-day closure)
  2. Dec 23-Jan 5 (final two weeks of the year)
★ Special note: The final day for any website launches will be Wed, December 11. Also, between Dec 23-Jan 5, we will still be available for urgent matters.

Rest assured that during these closures, we will continue monitoring your websites for any emergencies. For everything else, we'll get back to you as soon as possible after those dates.

If you have any questions about how these closures might affect your current projects, please feel free to reach out to your project manager. Thank you!

Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Speaking of the holidays, are you running a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal through your website?

If it's a website that CodeGeek manages, please let your project manager know since unplanned-for increased traffic can cause your site to run more slowly. This will help us make sure everything is running extra smoothly for two of the biggest shopping days of the year.
