Web Security Best Practices In The Age Of COVID-19

The economic downturn due to COVID-19 seems to have brought about a higher rate of spam, scam emails and phishing attempts.

The good news is: You are not alone if you’ve been the target of a hacking attempt. (Misery loves company and all that.)

The not-so-good news is: No one has discovered the magic spell to make all these hacking attempts go away. As of today, there's not much we can do about it other than to continue using our trusted arsenal of security tools and being vigilant about our security practices.

The other good news is: We’ve put together a web security best practices refresher. 👍
Get refreshed on web security. 💦

Pro Tip: How To Translate In Google Sheets

Gif demoing how to translate in Google SheetsYou may have gathered that we’re big G Suite fans, but there’s one function that we’re particularly geeked out of our minds about. 🤯

You can use Google Sheets to translate more than 100 languages!

All you need is:
  1. Google Sheets (If you need the app, here’s how to get it.)
  2. This formula: =GOOGLETRANSLATE(cell with text, “source language”, “target language”)
  3. The 2-letter code for each language
  4. Bonus: Here are some handy instructions, just in case.
And there it is! Voilà! (See what we did there?)

SCRAM Systems
- Making the leap from ExpressionEngine to WordPress, SCRAM Systems shows more and tells less with their brand-new website.

As the leading provider for alcohol-monitoring hardware and software in the community corrections industry, SCRAM Systems decided to pivot from a product-focused approach to a solutions-oriented mindset for their website redesign.

Some of our favorite features include:
  • Global region selector that displays relevant site content based on your area—from the U.S. to the U.K.
  • Location filter that helps users find SCRAM provider locations right in their jurisdictions (below)

The end result is a stunning presentation of the high-quality and innovative solutions and resources SCRAM Systems has to offer. We were thrilled to be a part of this project! 🤓

The Geeks Will Be Away On Labor Day 🧰

The first Labor Day occurred in 1882 in New York City. Union workers went on strike and marched in an all-day parade, and then they ate and drank at a giant picnic afterwards.

So on Monday, September 7, we'll channel those who came before us and close our offices to observe Labor Day. (And there'll probably be lots of yummy food, too.)

If you have a website emergency that day, please contact us at and we’ll get back to you before we take a second helping of potato salad. For all other things, we’ll respond as soon as possible after we return.

Where In The World Are The Geeks?

While at Centennial Airport in Denver, Ron got a personal air show from three F-18 Hornets! Check out his air-shredding footage on YouTube!

Leah recently had an adventure of a lifetime in Yellowstone! (Something also mysteriously breathed into her ear while she was in the tent.) See more vacay pics on Facebook!
