Over the next three weeks we'll be highlighting Old Bill's nonprofits by field of interest. This week, we're featuring organizations in arts and culture and sports and recreation.
“Dream-singers, Story-tellers, Dancers, Loud laughers in the hands of Fate—My People.” – Langston Hughes
Dear Foundation Friends,
Theaters. Ski hills. Live music venues. Trails and parks. Museums. Ice rinks. These are some of the places that bring us together. This year, especially, we crave the connection that comes with joining others to share an experience. This is the power of arts and culture, and sports and recreation that our nonprofit friends create for our community. The power of unique experiences.
When the curtain lifts, or when you discover art in a park or along a trail, or you hear the first strains of music begin, it makes your heart lift. When the crowd is on their feet shouting in joy in a lighted stadium, on the grassy sideline of a lacrosse field, or on a ski slope, it fills you with pride. United in that moment, there is a harmony in the people surrounding you.
During this Old Bill’s Giving Season, I hope you’ll remember the adrenaline rush or the blissful hush of community joining in wonder, discovery, and joy offered up by our nonprofits focused on Arts & Culture and Sports & Recreation. A gift of any size helps youth to find their talents and adults to learn to express themselves and reach their potential. Your gift brings us together and helps us discover our best selves.
