Dear Friends,
Well, that happened. Our community just wrapped up the most amazing year of Old Bill’s ever! The 25th Anniversary celebration culminated yesterday and the Community Foundation handed out checks to our nonprofit partners. I am going to get a little dramatic here, because these totals deserve some fanfare.
In the first year of Old Bill’s, the community raised over $1 million dollars.
Over each year, Old Bill’s grew. Last year, giving grew by more than a $1 million. In 2020, the community, through Old Bill’s, raised $15 million.
At the Foundation this year, we were processing gifts and we thought, maybe the total would beat last year’s numbers.
And we kept counting the gifts. You kept giving.
This year, this community has raised a total of $19,722,220 through Old Bill’s!
That incredible total is a mixture of gifts the community directed to our nonprofit friends and the matching pool built by a group of community-minded donors who fund Old Bill’s matching grants by combining their funds – Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill, our Co-Challengers, and Friends of the Match. That pool of funding provides a partial matching grant to each qualified nonprofit. The match percentage is determined every year. This year, our nonprofits received a 70% matching grant on up to $30,000 they raised. When our nonprofit friends heard that number - a 70% match - yesterday, the entire Center Theater went crazy. That was a moment I will never forget.
Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill led this 25th year by doubling their gift. New Co-Challengers came aboard and many Co-Challengers gave deeper than ever before. When our community joined in, we received 25,000+ gifts made by 4,158 donors. Since the beginning, 25 years ago, Old Bill’s Fun Run has raised a whopping total of $208,757,043.
I’m just going to leave that number sitting right there because it’s breathtaking. This community has raised more than $208 million over 25 years in support of our nonprofit partners who provide for our whole community.
I hope you’ll join me in gratitude for how we come together through this event. For how we come together, again and again.
With my appreciation,

Laurie Andrews
