Hello Community Foundation Friends,
There is a part of Old Bill’s Fun Run that is completely sensory. The cold snap of September morning air when nonprofits are setting up booths, the crinkle of a race bib as you fasten it with safety pins, the sight of Old Bill’s tee shirts coloring the street, the amplified sound of a local voice singing the National Anthem, and the warm press of friends running and walking next to each other. These are some of my favorite parts of Old Bill’s.
It’s a delicate thing to change an event that has been a beloved part of our community for 24 years. Old Bill’s Fun Run will be different this year, to keep everyone healthy, but we will celebrate the collaboration and community spirit that makes it so extraordinary. Here are a few details.
We want to honor our nonprofit partners. During the week prior to Old Bill’s Run Day, we will feature stories about all of our nonprofit friends. Maybe you’ll discover an organization that is new to you.
On September 12, we will gather safely at four locations, and at 10 am, we’ll open Old Bill’s Run Day with the National Anthem. You will get to choose your Old Bill’s adventure – a 2K or 5K walk/run/bike route that you want to complete during the day. We hope you will take photos and post them so that we can feature you. We’ll have routes posted online to give you some ideas. We look forward to seeing your faces across the valley.
