Community Outreach
Many thanks to St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church for their recent Community Outreach held Saturday, June 18. A variety of groups came together to provide a day of fun, education, fellowship, music, activities and food for our community. Well done!

T-Ball is up and running!
T-ball is a hit! The kids are enthusiastic and are learning the basics of the game. There has been a time change for practice- Tuesdays and Thursday at 5:30 is the new time. Approximately 30 kids have signed up. Play ball!

Yard of the Month
Congratulations to the following community members over the past several month for being selected Yard of the Month, a campaign to recognize the hard work and pride in landscaping and curb appeal in Aurora.
March Recognition- Lala and Buck Williamson
April Recognition- Henry and Deborah Dixon
May Recognition-Jesse Mills

Recognition for Yard of the Month for June was awarded to Lib Litchfield. "Miss Lib" as she is fondly addressed. also runs A Cut Above Hair Salon on Main Street. Miss Lib pays attentions to detail, as I'm sure most of you are aware of her ever changing window displays for her business.

Miss Lib has resided in her home as long as I've been here......her yard has always been immaculate. Miss Lib uses garden statues as a decorative touch along with a pergola that offers a shaded area of her yard. Her walkway and driveway are edged and swept clean. At Christmas she decorates with the Wise Men bearing gifts for baby Jesus. A sight to behold!

Blue Crab Boutique
The newest business downtown held its grand opening Thursday, June 23. The Blue Crab Boutique is a souvenir and gift shop located in Aurora North Carolina. They have many one-of-a-kind items created by talented local artisans and crafters. The Blue Crab will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays form 10 AM - 5 PM Like, follow and share
Mileage-Based User Fee Pilot Program
I was asked to share the following information- please click on the link to learn more on how you can become a participant to collect information needed to make an informed decision.

Good afternoon,
As you all know, there is a lot of discussion currently in our nation about Gas Prices and Gas Taxes. As electric vehicles become more prominent, less revenue is made off gas taxes that are paid at the pump. This hurts agencies like NCDOT, who rely on this funding for projects and other initiatives. The Mileage-Based User Fee Pilot Program is a study being conducted by the Eastern Transportation Coalition to see how a Mileage-Based Tax would work as a replacement to the current gas tax. I have attached a flyer with information on how to participate in this study. I ask that you all consider participating in this and also ask that you share this with your communities. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Family Movie Night Rescheduled
The family movie night was cancelled Friday, May 27 for the kickoff of the Fossil Festival Weekend due to inclement weather. It is in the works to have a showing on Friday, July 15. More info forth coming as the event nears.
Don't forget, our town library also has Movie Matinee on Tuesdays at 3 PM this summer.

Golden Leaf Scholar Leadership Program (GLSLP)
A Little Food Pantry will be located by our town library shortly. Many thanks to Ja"kasia Ferebee who recently contacted our community about a project her group is working on. This is her group's community action project for the Golden Leaf Scholar Leadership Program (GLSLP). One of the group members will install the box in the next two weeks. Many of these pantries are located in Washington and now we will have one in Aurora.

With the rising costs of food and gas, this food pantry may be instrumental in helping families fill in the gap.  People are looking for ways to help during this challenging time and placing a few additional cans of food in their shopping cart and stocking a pantry is an easy way to positively impact the life of another person in the community. With the help of the community, we hope this pantry may serve those in need.

All donations are appreciated. Please leave non-perishable food, canned goods, personal care items etc. and spread the word to friends and family. Flyers can be found at the end if you would like to share with others.

Again, reply back to this email if you are interested in contributing items for the bake sale. Arrangements can be made for the Richlands Township area.
