BVL HONORED AS 2013 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT
New GreatNonprofits.org Award is Based on Positive Online Reviews
Metropolitan Area Washington D.C., October 7, 2013 – BVL announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.
“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2013 Nonprofit,” says BVL Board Chair Darlene Baker. “We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including recreation grants to VA Medical Centers, programs for wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Medical Center, and our support of the VA national veteran’s competitions.”
The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that BVL received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit, for example one person wrote, “I will give to BVL in time and money every year. There is nothing more satisfying than giving an amount to a cause and knowing that it actually gets to those you intended it for. I have actually given the grants to our State Vet Hospitals, spent some time with the vets, and experienced the joy they feel being remembered, supported and honored. Donors should give freely as they are assured that the donation goes directly to the vets.”

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, BVL was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year.
“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with BVL have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”
Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community.
