Happy Spring!  It's that time of the year when you feel Spring is on it's way with longer days, Daffodils blooming, and people out walking on the sidewalks. It is a time to look at what you don't want to hold onto any longer and declutter your physical as well as mental environments. I recently went thru my clothes and decided that the business clothes that no longer worked for me could bring joy to someone else. So I am taking them to Dress for Success a non profit that helps women dress for the business world.
You can apply this same de-cluttering process on a mental level by going thru the stress loops in your mind which are repetitive negative thoughts regarding the past or the future.  These can include: perfection loops, judging loops, “have to do it all” loops, worry loops, rescue loops and the list goes on.  Next, take these loops and choose to let them go for more positive thoughts like: I am doing my best in this moment, I don't have to be perfect to be wonderful, worry is the misuse of imagination, it's not my job to make other people happy, or I am worthy of love.  You will feel lighter when you clean out the clutter in your physical surroundings as well as your mental environment.  Good luck letting go of things that no longer serve you and enjoy the beauty of Spring.

What is a Stress Loop?
Have you ever found yourself unable to stop thinking about something that made you feel angry, sad, worried, judged, controlled, frustrated, guilty or worse?  And you just can’t seem to shake the thought or the story spinning in your head?  And the more you think about it, the worse it becomes?  These types of spinning thoughts are what we call “Stress Loops.”   Everyone experiences them and everyone gets stuck in them.   We end up wasting so much  time and energy getting and being stuck in the repetitive cycle of these stress loops.   But, how do you get out of this stress loop?  How do you break the cycle?    The first step is to just be aware that you are in a stress loop.  Step back and accept that it’s just a stress loop and then remove yourself from the story and simply “Be” in the  present moment – be in the Now.  Stress loops focus on either the past or future.  Even if the event was just 5 minutes ago, it’s still in the past.  Also, worrying about what is going to happen or could happen just shifts your stress loop into the future and starts to spin.  Either direction (past or future) is where you want to remove yourself.  Once you step back into the current moment, you can halt the spinning of the stress loop.  To learn more about how to break free of unhealthy stress loops and prevent them from getting triggered, attend a  free one-hour program scheduled for March 6, 2017 6-7pm
