Calling All Farmers!
Do you sell fresh produce regularly at a farm stand or market? Do you want to expand access to affordable fresh foods for seniors? Be a Senior Farmers Market vendor! HCEOC is enrolling vendors for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).
SFMNP provides low-income seniors with produce vouchers to use at local farmers markets, which vendors then redeem with HCEOC. We strive to partner with a range of vendors so participants may have fresh food options wherever they live on Hawai'i Island.
To learn more, contact Food Services Manager Cheryl Octavio at (808) 731-7009 ext. 604 or coctavio@hceoc.net.
Enrollment ends Monday, March 26.

Wellness Tips from Mālama Kupuna
Did you know falls are one of the most common causes of injury among older adults? Here are six simple fall prevention tips, courtesy of Mālama Kupuna:
- Install handrails wherever there are stairs, on both sides if possible, and hold onto the handrails whenever you go up or down stairs.
- Avoid small rugs like throw rugs. Make sure carpeting is firmly fixed to the floor.
- Mount grab bars near toilets and both inside and outside your bathtub or shower.
- Use nightlights in hallways, bathrooms, and your bedroom, close to your bed.
- Keep a flashlight by your bed in case the power goes out.
- Know where your pet(s) are whenever you are walking or standing.
