AFCYRs Celebrate #ThrowbackThursday
with Don Beyer

Beyer's Political Career Began When Michael Dukakis, Soviet Union Were Trending Topics
ARLINGTON, VA -- The Arlington Falls Church Young Republicans are celebrating #ThrowbackThursday, a popular hashtag on Twitter, today by reminding voters what was making headlines when Don Beyer, Democrat candidate for Virginia's 8th Congressional District, was first elected to office as Virginia's Lieutenant Governor in 1989.

"Roxette's 'Listen to Your Heart' was the number one song, Seinfeld premiered, a gallon of gas was $1.12, Taylor Swift was born, and the Soviet Union was still intact," said Matthew Hurtt, AFCYR Chairman. "8th District Democrats channeled VH1's 'I Love the 80s' when they picked their candidate for Congress. Don Beyer is campaigning on the same failed policies Michael Dukakis espoused in 1988."

Real estate research firm Redfin revealed in September that Arlington has the top two ZIP Codes for Millennials. "It's a shame the Democrats have re-hashed the same failed liberal policies with the same old liberal candidate," said Hurtt.

Hurtt says Micah Edmond, Republican candidate for Congress, would be a better fit for the District. "Micah Edmond will bring fresh ideas to Congress and is a welcome alternative to the Democrats' re-hash candidate," Hurtt concluded.
