Theme of this Month: 🌜 Late Nights, Amirite?
I would consider late nights and I very close friends. I discover a lot of appreciation for music after 1:00 am, when it’s just me and the eerie silence left by the void of conversation. In the absence of worldly distractions, I find myself drawn to the kind of music that is upbeat yet still contains the depth of emotional gravitas. It’s the kind of music, that despite my being stressed and stagnant in front of a screen on a Friday evening, makes me feel like I’m also dancing at a sweaty Brooklyn nightclub, or on a night drive in the windy paths of Beverly Hills, or floating amidst the starry night peering down at the lit windows of people who are still up. It’s the feeling of infinite possibility that makes me the most productive, focused, and alive.
This month, I’ve curated a complete playlist of songs that got me through long nights like last weekend, and it’s arranged to work against the inevitable effects of weariness that weigh one down as the night goes on. The longer you stay up, the more momentum is needed so the “deeper” the sounds get, in the hopes of giving you the extra oomph you need to finish that one last thing. Even if it’s not going to be done, look up—hurrah! The sun is rising, the new day begins, and just remember that it’s all going to be okay. In honor of the recent news about Daft Punk breaking up, I also included one of my favorite songs of theirs. So strap in, and enjoy the night.
