Dún a Rí Sculpture Garden
This series of large-scale permanent sculptural artworks by artist Joey Burns is inspired by the rich cultural and historic setting of Dún a Rí Forest Park. Dún a Rí is an enchanted Forest Park outside Kingscourt in County Cavan, and a very important local amenity with a diverse ecological life. Burns revisits the theme of Irish identity in this series of fifteen sculptures, which includes larger than life sculptures of wildlife as well as a series of ghostly historic figures suspended over the old military barracks.

‘Rite of Spring’ by Ériu Dance Company in association with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company
Nearly 100 years after the first performance, this interpretation of Rite of Spring is inspired by the Stravinsky ballet of the same name, and is also inspired by the French tradition of Son et Lumière, specifically that which took place at the Cathedrale de Reims in 2011. This performance about a dancer who makes the ultimate sacrifice for his work. It will be a unique blend of dance, light and sound, ambitiously reworking the original performance to incorporate aerial dance, Irish and contemporary dance with Irish, classical and traditional music. Will take place outside the Cathedral of SS Patrick & Felim, Friday 10th August 2012 at 10.15pm. Further Info
