Uillinn Arts and Health Residency 2017

Kim Doherty, Cavan visual artist will spend a month working at the Uillinn Arts and Health Residency supported by Cavan County Council.  Kim is an experienced arts facilitator and has worked in health care, school and early years contexts.   She has for a number of years run her own programme entitled the “Inner Artist”. 



Professional Development Award 2017


Announcing Five Recipients 

Five artists were selected for the 2017 Professional Development Award which was recently adjudicated by an independent panel for Cavan County Council. The Arts Office offers financial support on an annual basis to Cavan artists practicing in any art-form or working in a collaborative context through a competitive process called the Professional Development Award.   



Arts Council Awards and Bursaries

Annually The Arts Council offer opportunities and awards.  There are a number of closing dates in March/April for a range of arts discipline bursaries including: architecture, circus, dance, film, literature, opera, street and spectacle arts. 




Creative Ireland workshop

Cavan County Council will host a public discussion on the Government’s new Creative Ireland programme at Hotel Kilmore on Monday, 10 April at 6.30pm.

Creative Ireland is the Government’s Legacy Programme for Ireland 2016 – a five-year initiative, from 2017 to 2022, which places creativity at the centre of public policy.



Ballyhaise Project

The Ballyhaise Project by lead artist Jackie O Neill is an opportunity for the artist to consider the land as an archive and respond to it.   The artist will lead a creative response focusing on Ballyhaise College as the site for investigation and working in partnership with other visual and performance artists to find new ways to give expression to the narrative contained in the landscape.   

A Portrait of This Region' by artist Johanna Nulty

The first solo exhibition by emerging artist Johanna Nulty at Townhall Cavan Arts Space opening on Saturday 8th April 2017.
Local artist Johanna Nulty invites the public to join her for the opening of her first solo show titled “A Portrait of the Region”.  In this exhibition Nulty presents a series of sculptural assemblages made from an assortment of items collected from people in her hometown of Cavan. Each artwork is titled with a local Cavan surname.
