Editorial

This afternoon we will start our research communications workshop and are already very excited about it. Nineteen communicators from various EADI member institutes will meet to exchange experience, network and look into opportunities for future collarboration. This way we hope to strenghten the voice of development research in the political and scientific discourses that are relevant to our members' work. We are also very proud of the inspiring short video on Global Citizenship Education produced by the Bridge 47 project we are part of. And, last but not least, we keep publishing articles on our new blog which we hope will soon become a discussion platform for many issues concerning development research.

From our blog

Since the launch of our new blog in the last newsletter, we've been publishing two new articles as starting points for further discussion. By asking "What if some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) turn out to be incompatible with others?", Christiane Kliemann sheds the light on unquestioned assumptions behind the framework of the SDGs. In "Development Studies Matter! Framing an Evolving Field of Study in Changing Times" Susanne von Itter presents the EADI definition of Development Studies, an appetizer for our forthcoming book "Development Studies in the New Millennium". Please also consider this a standing invitation to comment on and contribute to our blog!. Read more

The Brown to Green Report 2018 is the world’s most comprehensive review of G20 climate action. It provides concise and comparable information on G20 country mitigation action, finance and vulnerability. It gives an overview of all G20 countries, whether – and how well – they are doing on the journey to transition to a low-carbon economy. The report draws on the latest emissions data from 2017 and covers 80 indicators on decarbonisation, climate policies, finance and vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. Providing country ratings, it identifies leaders and laggards in the G20. Developed by experts from 14 research organisations and NGOs from the majority of the G20 countries, the report covers 80 indicators. Read more

News from EADI Working Groups
Call for papers: Our working group on Post- and Decolonial Perspectives on Development has just published a call for papers for its panel session at the Development Days 2019 in Helsinki, taking place from 27 February to 3 March 2019. The session explores “alternatives” to development as they are variously defined by conference organisers, donors, and researchers from a decolonial and critical perspective. The call invites blog-style reflections of not more than 350 words.
