Message from the President

Our June issue is devoted to Digital Health - for Medical Devices. I believe Digital Health will have a major impact on most medical devices. Members of our team have met for the past two years to share Digital Health information, ideas and client needs.

Our March survey helps medical device professionals understand current activity, challenges and opportunities specific to connected devices. The survey report leads this issue. I'll also discuss highlights in my presentation at MD&M East in New York City on June 15.

Partners are a major theme in Digital Health.  They were also the focus at the Innovation in Health Research and Technologies: Strategies for Successful Partnerships symposium in Vancouver. It was a great event  with lots of Twitter activity. Thanks to  the organizers for a terrific day.

Now that summer is here. I thought I'd share a true Victoria moment. I love living in a world famous beauty spot. Still, it's not every morning that a video crew films me kayaking in the waters near home. Promoting Victoria and our Life Sciences activity were well worth treating myself to a pre-work ride.

Feel free to click on the image and send notes of envy (and resumes).

As always, thanks for reading.

Scott Phillips, President

StarFish Medical conducted a digital health survey of the North America medical device industry between March 3 and May 3 2016.

Based upon survey responses, the state of the Digital Health market is strong and growing. Three areas are particularly useful to medical device professionals: Current and future challenges, Common features and functions, and Partnerships and 3rd party resources.

StarFish worked with us to help refine the software front end of our prototype device and fix a number of technical glitches.

StarFish had a mix of the missing technical expertise that we didn’t have and the ability to feel like we’re working with extended team members.

Solid. I think it was a solid mix of technical skills, a little bit of artistry, and really good communication and vibe between the teams.
