International Jewish Genealogy Month (IJGM)

The Israel Genealogy Research Association (IGRA) invites you to take part in our activities for the International Jewish Genealogy Month (IJGM).  The IAJGS has decided to devote the month of Cheshvan (this year from October 17 to November 14) to promoting Jewish genealogy activities.  We have many activities planned and hope you will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.  We are running workshops in various cities to help those with challenges in their genealogy research.  Please check out our calendar for details.  Some of our webinars will be in English and others in Hebrew.  Attached here is the invitation to our first webinar (English).  The webinar will be available to the first 100 who sign in on October 17.  Please make sure to register and join us on October 17.

Nolan Altman has made various presentations and conducted computer workshops at many IAJGS annual conferences.  He teaches adult and continuing education classes as well as university Holocaust and European history classes.  He has had articles published in Avotaynu, Dorot, Stammbaum, Shemot and the FEEFHS Journal.  He is on the Board of the IAJGS and is the President of the JGS of Long Island, where he coordinates their Yearbook, Cemetery and Memorial Plaque Projects. Nolan is also a member of the JGS of New York. He currently holds the position of JewishGen’s Vice President for Data Acquisition and will focus on growing the JOWBR and Holocaust databases. Nolan is Coordinator for the JOWBR (JewishGen’s Online Worldwide Burial Registry) project and also works with volunteers from around the world helping to grow both databases for the benefit of family members and researchers.

More databases to be released

After Simchat Torah we will be releasing more databases.  We are ready to bring back three databases we had to temporarily take down and will have additional ones for you to search.  The "bug" was fixed in the database of Hebrew Soldiers of the Yishuv who fell and perished in war 1940-1945.

Please be sure to follow us on Facebook and the website to know when these databases are available.
