Rare Form Mastering

March’s MSP Audio Geek meetup will be on Tuesday, March 19th, 2013 from 7:00-9:00pm. Greg Reierson of Rare Form Mastering will be our host.

Greg recently acquired a Neumann VMS 70 lathe, the same system used to cut the vast majority of the albums made in the '70s and '80s. Greg will show off the lathe and walk us through the process of cutting some tunes.

Pyramind Scholarship Challenge

Pyramind and SoundCloud present the Pyramind Scholarship Challenge. An opportunity to attend Pyramind's music production program in San Francisco.

About the Scholarship
  • This scholarship is intended for passionate and driven music producers who are looking to enhance their skills to a professional level.
  • Contestants must submit an ORIGINAL piece of music/sound design and must be a minimum of 3 mins long.
  • Along with the original production, contestants must submit a one page cover letter describing why they want to attend Pyramind to further their career.
  • Entries will be judged by a panel of Pyramind instructors who will focus the scoring on creativity and originality. Contestants can submit only one track and all entries must be submitted by April 30th, 2013.
  • This contest is open to only US Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • The value of the scholarship is $10,000 USD.
  • The winner has a choice to attend Pyramind in San Francisco at his/her time discretion (Subject to availability).

The MIX With The MASTERS program is a chance for recording and mixing engineers to come and work closely with A-List record producers, engineers and mixers and improve their skills in music production. Over a week, a series of discussions and workshops are held ranging from production and mixing techniques to career advices.

The MIX With The MASTERS program is held in the residential recording Studio LA FABRIQUE, a 19th century mansion, in Saint-Rémy de Provence (Southern France). The studio is built within one of the most impressive classical music record collection in the world of more than 200,000 vinyls but also 30,000 films and thousands of books... The facility features state-of-the-art equipment and esoteric acoustic spaces.
