Courage to get something done, said or to build a belief that it is possible, sometimes takes more than a deep breath.  Courage in any situation is determined by the need…a person who is hurt, seeing a potential problem and jumping in, helping when you are terrified, taking care to participate when your head says no and your heart says yes.  Beginning this year well has taken a goodly amount of courage for many.  The energy of the world seems steeped in negativity everywhere we look and listen.  So I wanted to share with you the quotes of people who know something about courage…and I hope the sharing inspires you when you need courage for you and/or your life experiences:
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”
― Lao Tzu
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
― Winston S. Churchill
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
― E.E. Cummings
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.”
― Maya Angelou
“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
― William Faulkner
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.”
― Mark Twain
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
― Nelson Mandela

“Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Daring Greatly - From thought leader Dr. Brené Brown, a transformative new vision for the way we lead, love, work, parent, and educate that teaches us the power of vulnerability and courage.  A great read to start a new year.  Get to know yourself better in these pages and see how truly courageous you are already.
