Pinch Point Funding

Heart of the South West (HotSW) is working closely with the Local Transport Authorities for Plymouth, Devon and Somerset to bid for Pinch Point Funding.

The Pinch Point is a nationwide fund of £200m designed to be used at key problem points on the Highways Agency network to help relieve congestion, improve safety and support housing and economic development.
A number of locations on key routes in the LEP area have been identified and Plymouth, Devon and Somerset transport authorities have already started working on proposals and HotSW is backing these bids.

Coastal Communities

HotSW is also bidding for money from the £18.2m Coastal Communities Fund.

This new fund aims to help coastal communities throughout the UK to unleash their growth potential.

It will support imaginative and innovative projects that promote jobs and growth and help to build stronger and more diverse local economies.

HotSW has coordinated a composite bid, combining 30 smaller applications from across the area.

The bid was submitted last week - the hope is that a large scale, coordinated bid will be accepted.

Response to consultation on EU funding

HotSW was invited to take part in a consultation with regard to the Consultation on EU Partnership Agreement 2014 – 2020.
In its response, the LEP said that HotSW is developing its rationale for a coherent EU economic development and regeneration investment programme.

This is designed to reinforce and build on its strengths and exploit opportunities to contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Changes to personnel

Contact details for the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership have changed with immediate effect following the resignation of Jeremy Filmer Bennett due to medical reasons.
Liz Waugh will be taking over the Chief Executive role on an interim basis, supported by Clive Turner, until a new post holder is recruited.
The Partnership would like to thank Jeremy Filmer-Bennett for his sterling work in setting up Heart of the South West and setting firm foundations for the future; we wish him the very best for a speedy recovery.
