dandyhorse is at Word on the Street this Sunday, Sept. 27

Come and get a copy of our new issue of dandyhorse at Word on the Street in Toronto at the Harbourfront Centre this year.

We'll be selling issue 12 tax free, plus back issues for JUST $2 - Yes, TWO DOLLAR back issues!

Our fab cover shoot is by dandy photographer Mike Ford and features musician Priya Panda. Find out more about the shoot here. (Outtake of Priya by Mike, above.)

You can find out more about Priya here, and you can see lots of Mike Ford's work in our current and past issues of dandyhorse. Mike took some pretty amazing photos of Lucy DeCouture for our Heels on Wheels feature and Desmond Cole who spoke to us about policing public space, both in our current issue. Find out more about these two news makers and take a copy of dandy home with you from Word on the Street at booth #220 this Sunday - tomorrow!

Come down and tell managing editor Claire McFarlane and publisher Tammy Thorne (pictured below in photo by Martin Reis at a past WoTS) what you'd like to see in upcoming issues of dandyhorse!

City Cyclist video on bike lane obstructions
City Cyclist on bike lane obstructions

City Cyclist sent dandyhorse an exclusive new video: Although his (and our!) outlook is brightening when it comes to safe biking and the increased number and quality of bike lanes in this town, there are still a heck of a lot of obstructions in the lane. Check out his latest video here.

About a year ago, City Cyclist launched his first video calling out people who park in the bike lane and it got picked up by the CBC nightly news. The CBC spot included an interview with dandy publisher Tammy Thorne. Check it out here.
Trading ambition for implementation

It's about time. After decades of studies, consultations and planning... a bike lane pilot project is planned for Bloor street from Avenue Road to Shaw in 2016.

Read all about it in our opinion piece from contributing editor and road safety advocate, Albert Koehl.

Speaking of safety: The Complete Streets Forum is coming to Toronto again this week. Strong Towns is giving a keynote speech on Oct. 1 at Hart House and workshop earlier in the week. More on the dandyBLOG this week.
Bike Spotting: Back to School

dandyhorse loves to spot YOU on your bike about town! We asked "Do you support the extension of the Richmond and Adelaide bike lanes?" and "What do you think about the new increased fine for dooring?" last month. This month we asked "Why do you bike to school?" Chelsea Good (above) said: "It's great for the environment, it's great for my health, for congestion and traffic and other people appreciate it. St. George street is great because of the bike lanes but we definitely need more around the city."
