Here's to Another Year of Dandy!

If you like what you see on our blog and in our magazines, and would like to get involved  -- let us know! We are currently looking to fill the following positions: web programmer (training provided), assistant editor and junior designer for our special spring "Safety" issue, and we are always looking for new dandy writers and bike spotters. Please send inquiries to Tammy Thorne at tammy@dandyhorsemagazine.com. Pass along the word!

Due out in time for Toronto Bike Month, the Spring Safety Issue will feature fresh research on "bikeability" in Toronto by a group of U of T scholars (and bikers) along with the same sassy-yet-serious content you’ve come to rely on – and love!

Don't miss our launch party which will include 'sexy safety' giveaways!

More details to come on the dandyBLOG.

What a dandy web we weave...
In January we hit over 2000 followers on Twitter!
Our readers reached out to us on Facebook & Twitter,  and a number of year-round cyclists wrote in to let us know how they keep warm and safe in the wintertime for our Selfies Bike Spotting. Look out for those stories coming soon to your news feeds!

Dandy readers loved Amanda Beattie's photo of the sharrows. The image suggested that our beloved paint sign should come with an instructional sign: "bikes may use full lane". Stay tuned as we explore sharrows, sharing, signage and safety in our Spring 2013 Issue!

dandyCOMMUTE Series

We want to hear your super commuter stories!

To be featured in the dandyCOMMUTE series on the dandyBLOG, all you have to do is fill out this form, send us some pictures and tell us about your commute. Easy! And you'll automatically be entered into our February draw for sweet gear from Sweet Pete's. In keeping with our Spring safety theme, we'll also be giving away safety vests courtesy of Redpath Sugar

This month, read about Daniel
Arancibia and his daily commute from CityPlace to the University of Toronto over the brand new Puente de Luz bridge, through crowded city streets and hidden laneways.

New this month

New on the dandyBLOG is our monthly dandySAFETY column. dandyhorse magazine wants to address situations that cyclists face every day as they transport themselves from home to work and back again.

We’ve lined up a few experienced road users - an automotive columnist, a Toronto Police Services traffic division officer, and an experienced cyclist - to advise you on how to make your commute as safe as it can be.

We’ll also ask the local councillor, or a city planner where applicable, to update us on the roadway or infrastructure project in question.

Send your dandySAFETY situations to: safety@dandyhorsemagazine.com and we’ll give you a safety vest and some 3M reflective tape for your bike.
