We are celebrating winning the New Forest Access for All award for recreation at our Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve in Totton after being nominated by a number of schools for children with special educational needs this year.

The Trust offers a variety of opportunities for you to learn new skills, and our courses and workshops provide you with a great way to enjoy the outdoors even more. A Brush with Nature
15th February, Swanwick Lakes, 10am-4pm
This workshop will explore the techniques used to draw and paint natural objects using graphite, watercolour paint and colour pencil.  Subject matter will be from the nature reserve, or can be of student's choice or choose from Sarah's array of natural 'bits and pieces' - from antlers and horns to feathers, stones and shells. Cost £40.

Digital Bird Photography
18th January, Blashford Lakes, 10am-4pm
Join our Wildlife Photography course. Get the most out of your digital SLR or Bridge camera and photographic opportunities at the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve. Join John Combes, an experienced photographer and lecturer, to learn about the equipment and techniques used in nature photography. Then try out your own equipment photographing birds visiting the reserve, using the woodland and various lakeside hides.Cost £50.

Living Willow Structures & Sculptures
2nd February, Testwood Lakes, 10am-3pm
Join Wildlife Trust Education Officer Sam Dawson for a course which will show you how to select willow for garden structures such as domes, tunnels and tepees. Assist with the design and building of a large dome. Learn weaving techniques and gain an understanding of long term maintenance. Create a small ‘living willow’ sculpture or structure to take home with you. Gain ideas of how to involve a whole family or community group in your own willow project. Please bring a large bucket to transport your sculpture, secateurs if you have them, waterproofs, wellies and a packed lunch.  Cost £50.
