Lunch and Learns
2018 has been the year of pilots for Jeremiah’s Place. In preparation for our fifth-year anniversary, we brainstormed new strategies that would allow us to connect with other service providers in order to better serve their clients. A series of Lunch and Learns is just one of several new and exciting initiatives. The pilot program consists of four Lunch and Learns hosted by our social worker, Kristen Ariel Glass. The goal is to connect with at least ten new service providers to discuss how we can be a resource for their clients. The Lunch and Learn includes a tour of Jeremiah’s Place, an overview of our Strengthening Families Program and services, as well as an opportunity to discuss new ways to partner with social service organizations in the community.
We have hosted three Lunch and Learns with the fourth and final Lunch and Learn of the series occurring on October 11, 2018. So far, we were able to connect with 27 service providers from 15 different agencies to elaborate on our services and how we can assist their consumers. The Lunch and Learns have also resulted in collaborations with other community organizations to develop a partnership allowing us to work together to better serve our community. We have witnessed an increase in scheduled intakes following each Lunch and Learn and recognize the importance of building these relationships with our counterparts. Two providers commented that, “This may be Pittsburgh’s best kept secret,” and “This is an excellent program and more agencies need to learn about these services,” so we are doing our best to spread the word. We are grateful for Pam W. Golden and Pittsburgh Child Guidance Foundation for giving us this opportunity to expand our reach in the community.
