Whoops! Did you get the sense that I wrote that last email in a hurry?

Well, I did. So much so that I completely forgot to mention the Canberra launch party for LIARS this weekend!

Here's the short version - the amazing Cate Whittle (author of Wyrd and Trouble and the Exploding House - which, by the way, is a solid candidate for best title ever) will be launching the book at 12:30 PM on Sunday September 9th at Dymocks Belconnen. I'll be there, making speeches, signing books and gobbling snacks. (You can gobble snacks too, if there's any left when I'm done.)

Full details (of the event, not the snacks) are at

Not in Canberra?

Sorry. Now that I have readers from so many different countries (and who vary so widely in age) I really need to work out a way to segment my mailing list. That way people would only get emails about the events and books which are likely to interest them. It's doable, but I'm just so busy, and for ethical reasons I collect as little data about my email subscribers as possible. (Remember when the new General Data Protection Regulations - GDPR - were introduced, and you got a panicked email from all the newsletters that you were subscribed to... except mine? I felt so smug.)

Thanks for your patience in the meantime, non-Canberrans! If you order LIARS by September 30 from, you can go in the draw to win a $1000 Scholastic Book Pack! Terms and conditions apply, but I don't know what they are.

Til next time!
