Oh man, I feel like the worst kind of neighbour.

You know, the kind who only sticks their head over the fence when they want to borrow your lawnmower, never just to check how you're doing? Very recently I sent you an email because I needed you to vote in the Booktopia FAB Awards, and I'd love to pretend this is a "thank you" email or a "how are you doing" email... but actually I need another, very similar, favour.

Hangman and Hideout are BOTH shortlisted for the Dymocks 101 Club!

This is huge. The 101 Club is a people's choice list of the 101 best books of all time, by any author, in any genre. If either book ends up on the final list, it will be stocked in every Dymocks bookstore for the rest of the year (instead of disappearing three months after the release date, as most books do). It will also be part of special sales and promotions. If Hangman hadn't made the cut in 2019, then Hunter and Hideout probably wouldn't have been published. Getting on this list makes a huge difference.

So, if you're in Australia, please show some love for Blake—vote for Hangman and Hideout now! (Did I mention you might win a $101 book voucher?)
Vote now

And as a pre-emptive thank you...'s Scrap, a short story featuring Timothy "Hangman" Blake. (It's not new, but it's newly free!)

Things to preorder from your local bookshop!

  • Stunt Kid Seriously Stacks It (illustrated comedy for age 9+) comes out on March 1st. Another book in the series, Kid President Totally Rules, will be out later this year, but you can't preorder that yet.
  • 200 Minutes of Mystery (10 terrifying stories in real time for age 10+) comes out on April 1. (I'm also working on 10 Minutes of Danger, which will have 20 stories! That's fingers and toes, people.)
  • Book 2 of the Liars series will be published in America in February as The Missing Passenger.
  • The German edition of Hunter / Just One Bite will be published in April. It's called Blake - Der Geschmack des Todes. I dare you to put that into Google Translate, along with the French title for Hangman, which is Mange Tes Morts.
  • And I still can't talk about Kill Your Brother, but it's coming. Stay tuned.

Thank you, friends.
