Happy 2017! Thank you so much for being a subscriber to my newsletter. In this edition, read about my artwork being shared in print and online, new note cards, and the art I've recently created.
But first, a big thank you to those of you who left a review of my book on Amazon. I appreciate you taking the time! Also, the more than 2200 of you who entered my Goodreads give-away. Congratulations to the winners who each received my book, postcards, and note cards.
"Good Night" - note cards "Reverie" - note cards
Speaking of note cards, I have some new ones available that are pretty cute if I do say so myself! You can find them on my web site (free U.S. shipping) and Etsy.
Published in GPQ
In December I was published in Glass Patterns Quarterly Magazine! I made a 10" stained glass mosaic and wrote a tutorial for it which ended up being four full pages of step by step instructions, tons of color photos illustrating the process, a list of materials, and includes a full size pattern. I'm on the cover, too! You can buy the magazine or download the pattern and tutorial directly from their web site. If you make it, please share with me - I'd love to see your version!
Interview with Cat Lady Confidential
Last month I was featured on the lovely blog, Cat Lady Confidential where I talk about my cat mosaics and embroidery, the influence of my mother, and the beautiful cats in my life, past and present, including these sweet boys, Spotty and Christopher. You can read the interview here.
Embroidery Art on Wool Felt
I have been teaching myself embroidery the past few months and most recently have been experimenting with blended wool felt, which is the yummiest texture and comes in the most beautiful colors! I will never ever use craft felt again! First I made some little stuffed cat ornaments for gifts at Christmas time. Then I made something special for my ladybug-loving friend, Ginny. I am thinking the next obvious step is to try my hand at some stuffed animals and dolls. Fun! You can see more of my embroidery in my Etsy Shop.
Other Art I Enjoy
Another Russian artist for you to admire! Olesya Serzhantova creates such vibrant images, happy and thoughtful, whimsical and playful, soothing and dreamy. Women are a favorite subject, as are children, music, and animals. Here are some of my favorites. If you like them, you can see more of her work on her web site.
Thanks again for following along on my artistic journey, and if you think others would be interested in reading about my art, feel free to share my newsletter.
Warm regards, until next time,
Me and Christopher @1971
