So much has been going on these past few weeks with my book and much more is on the way! I have a couple of events coming up (including one in just under six hours!) that I wanted to make sure you knew about. Also, see what I've been up to since the book's debut.
First of all: Don't Miss My Exciting Event Tonight!
Me and Sharon Hoshida of Granada Books.
Tonight is the opening reception for my exhibition of the stained glass mosaics featured in my book. I just hung my art at Granada Books last weekend and it was so fun to see all of the mosaics in one place! I can't wait to see what people think of it tonight. The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and I will be doing a pajama party reading at 6:15 in the Children's Space with a book signing afterwards. Bring your kids and grandkids in their pajamas for the reading and enjoy some popcorn and candy canes, too. Granada Books is at 1224 State Street in Santa Barbara. I hope to see some of you locals there!
Another Fun Event Coming Up
The Night Before Christmas, 2013.
I will be signing and selling my book at Goleta Family School's Annual Winter Sing and Marketplace on Thursday, December 12th. There will be shopping, holiday portraits, and a homemade pasta dinner from 4:30-6:30 pm. The children's performance is 6:30-7:30, followed by desserts and more shopping until 8:30 pm. Twenty percent of all profits will be donated to the Goleta Family School PTA. Dinner costs $5 and is by reservation only. Please email Adrienne Demboski or call 252-6297 to make your reservation by December 9th. Goleta Family School resides on the campus of Foothill Elementary School at 711 Ribera Drive in Santa Barbara.
Dash Away All! 15x24", and me with my new friend
My first two book signings went fabulously! I was at Curious Cup Bookstore in Carpinteria Nov. 1, and Chaucer's Bookstore in Santa Barbara Nov. 24. I brought one of my mosaics in the book (the reindeer) which received a lot of attention and was so much fun to touch! Children were especially intrigued. I met many friendly people enthusiastic about my art and book, and saw a bunch local friends, too. Thank you everyone for showing up!
I recently gave a book away when I reached 100 books sold and then 200 sold. I am currently at 293 and will be giving another book away at 300 books sold, so if you'd like to have a chance at winning a free book with your purchase, go like my Facebook page to keep up to date. Sales are picking up now that Christmas is near, so I am sure I will be giving it away very soon! (Buy here)
Don't Miss My Feature Story in the News!!
Last week I was interviewed and photographed with my art for this Sunday's edition of the Santa Barbara News-Press! It will be the feature cover story in the Life section, two full pages with lots of photos of my art. I hope you locals will get a chance to read it, and for those who aren't local, follow this link on Sunday, Dec. 8 where you can read it online. After the 8th you will need to have an account to read archives, so be sure to check it out on Sunday.
More Praise for My Book (Thanks, Rebecca!)
"Just opened up Christine Brallier's book ... "The Night Before Christmas". I LOVE IT! I love the wonderful angles in the design layout. I love the little "mosaics within mosaic" hanging on the walls. I love Raymi. I love the detail and print quality. None of the images you will see on-line can do justice to the actual quality of this sweet book. You need to buy one! Good job Christine, and good job Brownian Bee Press (Barbara). Oh and the font size is just perfect for Grandparents reading aloud to kids. So add font size to the long list of things that I love about this book."
Where My Book is At
My book at Kernohan's Toys in Goleta, CA
I have been super busy getting my book into as many local stores as possible and here is the list so far: Granada Books, Chaucer's Bookstore, Curious Cup Bookstore, The Book Den, Santa Barbara Museum of Art's gift shop, Tecolote Book Shop in Montecito, Bennett's, Santa Barbara Stained Glass, Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Art, and Paradise Found. Whew! If you're not local and are interested in purchasing the book, you can find it (signed by me) on my web site.
Thank you so much for following along on my artistic journey, and if you think others would be interested in reading about my art, feel free to pass this newsletter on.
Warmest and most joyful wishes to you and your family this holiday season,
