Happy Holidays! Thank you so much for being a subscriber to my newsletter. I have some fun possibilities (giveaways!) for you with my book, The Night Before Christmas and the postcards that accompany it. Plus, read about a new skill I've learned that adds a new "dimension" to my mosaics.
I have two giveaways of my book and postcards this week. To enter the first one, go to my Facebook page, find the Giveaway post (which shouldn't be more than a couple posts down) and then like, share or comment on it. Your name gets put in a drawing for each action you do (three actions = three chances to win!) The winner will be picked by random drawing the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 22. I will send out my book and a pack of ten postcards (five of each image) on 12/22 by Priority mail if you're in the U.S., so you can hopefully receive it by Christmas! Easy, right?!
postcards of images from my book
If you miss that opportunity, I will have another giveaway at Goodreads. It begins at midnight on 12/22 and runs until midnight 12/29. All you have to do is click the button "Enter Giveaway" and you are entered! This contest is for U.S. residents only (sorry!) and I will send my book and a pack of ten postcards Priority as soon as Goodreads announces the winner. You can find the giveaway link in a white box at the top right side of my blog, here.
Free Priority Mail Shipping in the U.S.
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse!
If you want to skip the contests and purchase my book, I am offering free Priority shipping in the U.S. until the end of the year, so feel free to take advantage of that until 12/31/15 if you're interested! It is only available at my web site, not anywhere else the book is for sale. Find it here.
Folt Bolt Feature
My book was featured on the colorful and inspirational blog of Folt Bolt, which features "amazing artworks from all around the world." See the post here. Thanks, Folt Bolt!
Sculpture Making at Passiflora
Top two photos by Passiflora Mosaics. Cat in progress, with mesh and then cement.
Last month I attended a weekend workshop at Passiflora Mosaics in Grover Beach, CA where I learned how to make a sculptural base that I will eventually mosaic. Starting with carving a Styrofoam block and then covering it with mesh and cement, it was a challenging process! I made a cat, of course, and I am looking forward to beautifying it with glass and beads. Stay tuned!
Other Art I Enjoy
When looking for inspiration for my sculptured cat, I will be sure to take in the dogs of one of my favorite mosaic artists, Pamela Irving, an Australian artist with a fun, playful style. Aren't they wonderful?! She has done some amazing public art, too, so please visit her web site to see more.
Thank you so much for following along on my artistic journey, and if you think others would be interested in reading about my art, feel free to share my newsletter.
Happy Holidays and see you next year!
