Student Spotlight - Judy Payne

AUSU student Judy Payne was recently awards the AUSU Returning Student Award. Congratulations on your accomplishments, Judy!

"Volunteering for Special Olympics as a teenager set me on a career path that would prove to be challenging and rewarding.  Though only managing two years of college after high school I was able to secure positions where I had the opportunity to advocate for change and ensure individuals with disabilities had the ability to exercise their rights as equal members of society.  Though it has taken until my 50's to finally be at the point where a degree may be a few short months away, I plan to continue my studies with Athabasca University to ensure that I am up to date on the most current research regarding support for those who face the barrier of discrimination due to physical or mental health challenges." - Judy Payne
