SKIING AT THE WINTER PARALYMPICS
Disability History Month (16th November - 16th December) celebrates the achievements of people with disabilities and acknowledges the systemic challenges many have faced throughout history and today.
Jonathan is a skiier from Redbridge who competed at four Paralympics, in Innsbruck 1984 and 1988, Tignes in 1992, and Lillehammer in 1994.

He remembers practicing in Lillehammer before the event:
"It was sort of minus twenty degrees on a number of days and the snow was very, very hard and compact and the courses were quite challenging. It was great because I’d got my wife there with me as well as my mum and dad. (...) I remember on the downhill event, they’d set a very hard course with a very big jump halfway down the course and I came hurtling down this downhill course, took off on this jump, hadn’t prepared correctly as I took off and uh... I think I took off in Norway and felt like I had landed in Sweden!"
