Five online sessions  

Special Edition // OS20 // Virtual Event

The Open Session 2020 will be completely online. There will be four virtual sessions in December 2020, workshops in January and a final online meeting in February 2021 to present the conclusions.  

You will be able to


Participate in live sessions and discussion groups, watch the recordings, have virtual coffee with your colleagues, and discuss the e-posters.



The sessions will focus on animal mobility for Foot-and-mouth And Similar Transboundary animal diseases (FAST) risk mapping, addressing risk change and forecast, vaccine security and critical resources for emergency management, and resilience to long-term FAST crises. The focus will remain on FMD, but similar transboundary animal diseases will be considered. For each session, there will be keynote presentations, short pre-recorded interventions and e-posters.
Following the December sessions, workshops will be organized in January to reflect, discuss and work on the conference outcomes. A final overall meeting will be held in February.

Session I 8 December Measuring animal movements and drivers for FAST risk mapping

Session III 15 December Vaccine security and critical resources for emergency management
Session IV 17 December Resilience to long term FAST crises: the importance of preparedness and planning to help ensure animal welfare, supply chain and business continuity in prolonged emergency responses
Session V Mid February Final conference

Submit your abstracts by the 20 October! 
 

The abstracts submitted and accepted will be proposed in the following formats:

  • Short pre-recorded presentations and e-posters, according to the theme of the sessions;

  • E-posters according to different categories (e.g. Virology – Vaccinology – Diagnosis – Epidemiology – Surveillance and control - Emergency preparedness and response - Socio-economics – Risk assessment – Modelling).

​​The submission of abstracts not specifically related to the themes of the four live sessions is very welcome as the e-poster format will allow the authors to present papers and results of their studies.
