Somebody remember to wake up Billie Joe Armstrong.

Fall is upon us, and I'm getting excited for some cooler weather and pumpkin- and apple-related products, some of which I've already been consuming in unhealthy quantities.  Here's what else has been going on...

Last week, the Ego Band and I were on 93.5 WVBR's Tuesdays with the Band.  We ran through a few favorites from the Flying Pigs and our Songs to Make You Wealthier and More Attractive, a Bill Withers cover, and one new song.  More on that later... but it was a great time and we hope to see Dan Cole again soon!  You can listen to the full show here or a clip of us performing Lensful of Molly here.

Other Stuff We Did

It's been a great month for the Ego Band.  After a terrifically fun back-in-business blowout with the full nine-piece band at the Nines, we won the grand prize at the VF Outlets' annual Battle of the Bands (the 1970s theme didn't hurt our chances, what with our penchant for Joe Cocker and Led Zeppelin).  And for the first time, we participated in Ithaca's Porchfest.  It was a real treat to get to play outside for the community.  Plus, I got to walk around and enjoy a lot of other local tunes.  There's always so much going on in the local music scene here, and I'm looking forward to what's to come...

Enter the Twitterverse

I have finally joined the 21st century and started a Twitter account.  If you are of the Tweeting sort, do follow @SamuelBLupowitz to read music news, thoughts of the day, and clever witticisms that I hope will earn me the love and respect of Michael J. Nelson from Mystery Science Theater and Rifftrax.  JOIN ME.

Or, alternatively, write me a letter.  A real letter.  I'll give you my address.  I'll even write you back.

It's a New Record!

The work on new songs has begun in earnest!  I'm making another album with the Ego Band my goal, and writing material for this nine-piece beast is extremely rewarding.  If you have any thoughts or advice about where, how, and when we can get some studio space -- or you just want to share your enthusiasm for a follow-up to last year's Songs to Make You Wealthier and More Attractive -- hit me up on e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter.  Or the above-mentioned US postal service.

In the meantime, you can get a taste of the new stuff from a stripped-down performance of one new tune, "Lucifer Falls," on our WVBR appearance (skip to 24:35).

Upcoming Shows

Friday, October 4th
Alan Rose birthday show/Monoculture record release show
Ithaca, NY
The Haunt

Our buddies in Monoculture, a great indie-rock combo with excellent vocal harmonies, are releasing their new record, AND our good friend and stalwart Ithaca music supporter Alan Rose is turning 45!  Come celebrate with us at The Haunt -- there will be a LOT of cool music.  The Ego Band takes the stage first at 9pm.

Saturday, October 5th
Radio broadcast: VIC Radio
Tune in anywhere!

VIC Radio's Marissa Framarini covers the music of a different city every week.  This week, it's our very own Ithaca, NY, and I'll be co-hosting the show and playing a song or two.  Join us!

Sunday, October 20th
Ithaca, NY
The Chapter House

Catch me playing bass for OUR bass player, Drew Serafini, in his new rock trio at the Chapter House on October 20th!  Drew's been writing some 90s-inspired blues-rock that we'll be recording together in November, and we'll be testing it out on a live audience for the first time.  Drew is also a brilliant guitarist, and trust me: you want to witness that firsthand.

Thursday, November 7th
TV/online broadcast on ICTV
Tune in anywhere!

We'll be airing on ICTV's newest local music show!  More details to come.

Friday, November 8th
3Unit EP release show
Ithaca, NY
The Nines

More friends release new music!  We'll share the stage with our friends in 3Unit as they release their debut EP.  Should be a great evening of retro rock... plus an acoustic set from (once again) Alan Rose!

And more to come...

Final Thoughts

There's a lot of musical momentum right now, and your support means the world to me and the band.  I'd love to hear what you're enjoying, what you'd like to hear, where you'd like us to play... anything.  So with that in mind, have a great day, be in touch, and I'll check back in in October!
