Current projects
Gascoyne Infrastructure Priorities: RDAMWG engaged GFG Consulting group to help identify the infrastructure priorities that will deliver the greatest return to the Gascoyne and the state in terms of business investment and jobs growth. It is envisaged that with the support of the Shires of Upper Gascoyne, Carnarvon, Exmouth, Shark Bay, Meekatharra, and Wiluna the Gascoyne Infrastructure Priorities Statement will align with the Federal and WA State Infrastructure strategies and promote a collaborative regional approach.

Mining Company & Community Partnerships: Originating from many discussions and feedback from our regional communities this project found that there are a range of agreements and commitments in place.  There are opportunities to develop ‘best practice’ templates from current initiatives and to further identify the ways that best practice in mining and community engagement can delivery successful social sustainability outcomes.

Growth Strategies for Small Shires: Acknowledging that many of the shires in our region are experiencing a multidecade trend of population decline RDAMWG has initiated a project that examines the strategies that are being used to square up to the challenge and how the lessons can be used more broadly.

Conferences and Events
RDA National Forum: In June RDA Chair (Yvonne Messina), Deputy Chair (Tom Maina) and EO (Mark Holdsworth) attended the RDA National Forum in Canberra which was great opportunity to meet the RDA's from other parts of Australia who were able to travel.  We took the opportunity to visit Parliament House and meet Hon. Melissa Price, Hon. Nola Marino and the Hon. Keith Pitt.  A visit to the Kenya High Commission concluded a very successful week and we hope to see the High Commissioner in Geraldton soon.
