GETTING SCHOOOLED WITH OUR FAVOURITE SWEETENED KUCING DUO!

Chocolate Puma are Zki and Dobre, Jark Prongo, The Good Men or just plain old Rene et Gaston; whatever you prefer to call the DJ and production duo most commonly hailed as Chocolate Puma, chances are you know them one way or another. Gaston Steenkist and René ter Horst are two of Holland’s most celebrated electronic producers and with a career spanning 20 years, 200-odd releases and countless remixes under their various guises are a duo whose influence on the European dance music scene cannot be underestimated.

Drawn together by a common appreciation house music movement of the early 90s, their career got off to a turbo-charged start with the release of what would become one of the defining records of their career. Recording under The Good Men the duo released what they hoped would be a popular club track, ‘Give It Up’ on their own Fresh Fruit label in 1992. The record surpassed all expectations, reaching #1 on the US Dance Chart and #5 in the UK Singles Chart when it was re-released a year later, propelling them to unexpected global stardom. Want to know more? Check out the interview on our site ahead of their show tonight at Bali's most iconic rooftop location Velvet Hypnotized.

THIS JAM IS HOT, REAL HOT!
S H A R A M  J E Y

Sharam Jey is a well-established and well-experienced dance producer from Cologne, Germany. Jey released his first two studio albums back in the early 90s, and since then has been around the world and back (not many could say they’ve played a New Year’s Eve party in Cairo, Egypt). Jey carries a wealth of bangers and feel-good jams, clocking in over a 100 releases on his Soundcloud (You should see this guy’s Wikipedia discography). Not to mention the numerous remixes he’s done for stars like Moby, Gossip, Faith No More, Diplo, and Roisin Murphy. Then, when he began his label, Bunny Tiger, in 2012, it was named among Beatport’s Top 10 Labels the following year, and easily established itself as a go-to destination for g-house and dance fans alike. Jey’s affinity for re-working classic hip-hop samples into deep house, g-house, and nu-disco continues to be a remarkable feat.

MOM, I GRADUATED!

Justin Jay returns to the feathery fold of Dirty Bird with his latest release. The youngest of VonStroke's proteges continues to build on a string of heavy hitting releases. All of Justin's tracks are created on the same college-dorm studio set up, it seems fitting that we bring the lastest from those late night bunker sessions and a brace dedicated to the end of his study & let the party begin.
'Mom I Graduated! launches to life with the sassily titled "Hit It." Spring loaded beats adorn an eerie, vocoder-aided atmosphere, before double claps on the beat turn the track into a certified stomper. Dropping into thick sub bass, chopped up vocal samples and chiming, echoing percussion around its half time rhythm. This is BIG!. 7/5. DRW

HANOVER EP
Suara's latest outing is 3 tracks of melodic, avant-garde harmonic techno in its finest form courtesy of one of our favourite artists over the past few years. Trying not to be persuaded by Jeremy's consistent powerful basslines and powerful kick drums, the hypnotic melody and drum pattern work is what really makes these 3 standout tracks with some very emotive versus bridging this trio package together in what defines melodic techno in 2015. Swede Jeremy Olander's triumphant return to the Suara camp after his successful remix of Dosem- Runnerpark with  'Hanover', 'Lunar' and 'Exchange' certainly spreads his web of cutting edge techno further, a huge release for tech heads, proggy fans or music enthusiasts alike what ever genre your rocking. 12/10 DRW

DJ MAG TOP 100 2015  IS THIS REAL OR FAKE?
Every year in September the annual DJ Mag poll drops its top 100 list and the media, agents, managers and promoters go into a feeding frenzy. Furthermore every year somehow its leaked and to much negative publicity on the internet as per usual - the haters are out in force, the keyboard warriors stomp their fingers and the doubters keep on doubting. Will the youngest DJ ever take out the number 1 pole and are all the legends gone like Digweed & Sascha?  Check out the list, make your own decision and lets see what really happens when its made official, or has it?
SHIBA SAN  - VINYL, BASS MUSIC AND BALI!
In recent times Shiba San has garnered a lot of positive attention from every corner, with one foot in his hip hop past and the other embracing the future of house he has found a comfortable collision of the two in bass heavy ghetto funk. And associations with both Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and AMINE & Dance’s Cuff certainly haven’t hurt.
It’s fair to say that Shiba San is primed and ready to blow. You can’t escape the feeling that this could be the start of something big and with his second visit to Bali within the year we are excited! Check out the exclusive interview ahead of this weeks showdown #OKAY
